Blaenavon based Super Rod has been awarded the UK's most prestigious business accolade - the Queen's Award for Innovation.
Awarded to businesses who can demonstrate substantial improvements in business performance and commercial success through innovative products and services, Super Rod are one of only a small number of companies who will receive this award in 2008.
Super Rod is well known in the industry for their unique range of cable routing products which every year save the electrical industry 9 million work hours and it is this innovation which has secured them the top honour in this year's awards.
Managing Director Malcolm Duncan said: "We are absolutely delighted to win the Queen's Award for Innovation which is a true mark of the way in which our product range has gone from strength to strength since its launch in 2000."
"The feedback about our products that we receive from the industry has always been very positive, but by winning this award we know that we are really making a difference. We currently estimate that over 70% of UK electricians now use a rod based system compared to almost zero in 2000. This massive increase is down to the fact that our products really do save time - something which is important for today's electricians."

To mark their achievement, Malcolm Duncan from Super Rod will attend a special reception on 22 April at Whitehall with the presentation of the actual award taking place later in the year at their base in Blaenavon.
