The fifth annual Blue Helix and Corning Golf Day took place on Tuesday 19th June, once again at the Mannings Heath Golf Club in West Sussex. There were a record number of guests attending this year’s event and with the sun shining and the shot gun start there was a seamless start to the golf, although a few balls did miss the intended target.
The start this year was earlier than in previous years, to make sure everyone was back in the club house for the England v Ukraine game in the evening. As with all Blue Helix and Corning Golf Days, the standard of play varied, but even the novice players enjoyed the course and the day, there are for the first time ever some branded golf balls left from the day. Another first for our golf day was that the individual winner was a returning champion, having also won the event in 2009.
After the golf had concluded, there was a barbeque and due to the glorious weather, this was able to happen on the terrace. After dinner guests eventually settled down to the England v Ukraine game, which although not a classic led to the right result for England. The day concluded with a charity raffle, with prizes including champagne, an Ipad 3 and a 4 ball of golf. The raffle and selling of mulligans raised £700 for Great Ormond Street hospital, so thank you to all for their generosity.
The results from the day are as follows;
